Mr. Mangold

Mr. Dan Mangold currently serves as Co-Director of Bands at MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City, Iowa. His responsibilities include conducting the 11th-12th Symphonic Band, directing Dutchmen Jazz II, teaching courses in Music Appreciation and Music Fundamentals, and co-directing the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Mangold served as Director of Bands at MOC-Floyd Valley Middle School in Alton, Iowa and as Assistant Marching Band Director for MOC-Floyd Valley High School from 2011-2017. Before joining the MOC-Floyd Valley School District, he was Director of Bands at Sioux Central Community Schools in Sioux Rapids, Iowa from 2010-2011.

Mr. Mangold earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) and a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa.

He remains active as a marching band consultant and clinician for several area programs and serves as an adjudicator for the Iowa High School Music Association. Mr. Mangold is a member of the Iowa Bandmasters Association (IBA) and the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association (NWIBA), where he currently serves as district treasurer and as the IBA Marching Band Affairs Committee Chair.

Outside of his educational role, Mr. Mangold maintains an active presence in the musical community. He is a trumpet section member of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra and serves as conductor and music director of the Orange City Community Band. He has been the pit orchestra director for Tulip Festival Night Show Productions of Wizard of Oz (2025), Beauty and the Beast (2018 and 2019) and Mary Poppins (2015). He is also active on praise teams at First Reformed Church in Orange City, playing piano, trumpet, horn, bass, or drums.

He and his wife, Rebecca reside in Orange City with their children, Cora and Jonah, and their two schnoodle dogs, Eddie and Winston.
