Mr. Mangold

Mr. Dan Mangold is currently in his 7th year as Co-Director of Bands at MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City, Iowa. His responsibilities include directing the 11th-12th Symphonic Band, Dutchmen Jazz 2, teaching lessons, and serving as co-director of the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band. In addition, he  teaches courses in Music Appreciation and Music Theory. Before teaching at the high school Mr. Mangold served as the Director of Bands at MOC-Floyd Valley Middle School and Assistant Marching Band Director for the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band from 2011-2017.

Before coming to MOC-Floyd Valley, Mr. Mangold served as Director of Bands at Sioux Central Community Schools in Sioux Rapids, Iowa and 5th-6th Band Director at Albert City-Truesdale Community Schools.

Mr. Mangold graduated from Sioux Central High School, Sioux Rapids, and went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Northwestern College in Orange City. He holds a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa.

Mr. Mangold currently serves as treasurer for the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association and is the Northwest Iowa representative on the Iowa Bandmasters Marching Band Affairs committee.

Outside of school, Mr. Mangold plays trumpet with the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra. He is the director of the Orange City Community Band during the summers. He has performed in the pit orchestra for several Tulip Festival Night Show Productions including serving as pit orchestra director for Beauty and the Beast in 2018 and 2019 and Mary Poppins in 2015. He serves on praise teams at First Reformed Church in Orange City playing trumpet, piano, bass or drums. He and his wife Rebecca reside in Orange City with their daughter Cora, son Jonah and two schnoodles dogs, Eddie and Winston.
